seven card stud for advanced players

Has any one read seven card stud for advanced players before, if so is this a book that is good for a begginner.Because my options for seven card stud books is limited,there isnt many books on stud so i am wondering is this a good book to to learn or this there a book on stud i should read before this?

It's a great book, but you should get familiar with the game a little bit first.

i think that if you have a solid grasp of general poker theory and concepts, even if your main game is holdem then reading Zee's book will be fine...just take your time and go thru it slowly because the explanations/situations are much more varied than in holdem books...

It's a fantastic book, but I agree that it shouldn't be your first one. It is indeed for advanced players.

I read Chip Reese's 7-stud section in the original Super/System(it's not in the updated version that just came out). Reese is one of the best players ever, and his 7-stud section is well written and excellent.

I studied the hell out of it, then out of Ray Zee's book, and within a few months went from never having played in a casino before to a regular winning player at the 10/20 and 15/30 tables in the Commerce and other L.A. casinos. If you take your studying seriously, it's an excellent study plan that will shave many years off your learning curve. I made myself flash cards on strategic concepts and odds that I drilled on constantly, etc., so I do mean SERIOUSLY.

I would also strongly recommend Theory of Poker. I read that one too during my initial study period, and it has valuable concepts in it. Many are the same as you'll find in Ray Zee's book and Chip Reese's work, but Theory of Poker is probably the best poker book ever written and will just give you a general thorough grounding in poker and deeper level understanding of it.

Believe it or not, I would suggest the portions of "Play Poker Like the Pro's" by Hellmuth. When I started playing Stud this book made me a winner from day 1. There are so many bad Stud players out there that a winning player can win with a very basic starting hand strategy alone.

Once you get a bit of experience, go back and read Stud for Advanced Players!
