No, there are bigger games at the Borgata. They run 5/10 and 10/25 NL games regularly. And maybe once or twice a week they even run a 25/50 NL game. I wouldn't sit in the big one unless you've got some serious experience though, there are often some big names in that game.

On weekends, they have 10/20 NL at Tropicana. I have seen 50/100 PLHE at the Taj, but I don't think it is a regular thing.

WTF?

Even high limit live games have fallen victim to this capped buy-in horseshit?

I didn't even know that capped buy-ins existed live beyond 1/2, 2/5, etc.

I'm shocked the regular players in that game stand for this.

I'm on your side on this one but let me explain the reasoning behing it. The sudden boom in NL hold'em has forced many card rooms to spread a game they're not thrilled in spreading to begin with. They would much rather you play limit. They can rake off you a lot longer without fear you'll go bust the first hand you play. Many inexperienced players also play over their heads in NL, crushing their bankroll, and keeping them out of action. A capped buy-in helps keep the game in check by protecting the weaker players. It also protects the strong players. (Everyone takes a beat in NL once in a while)

I think part of the reason for a capped buyin is to prevent someone from bringing a huge stack and using it to play aggressively. I don't think it is a bad idea.

I know at the Tropicana they limit the buyin to 100BBs at the 5/10 and 10/20 games.

I watched to 10/20 game and they seemed like mostly pros, but there wasn't anyone I had seen on TV or anything.

The 1/2 and 2/5 games are pretty easy with a lot of bad loose players. From what I have seen and heard, I don't think the 5/10 games are extremely tough, but you are risking your $1K buyin.
