Next item up in the agenda:

Secret signals to your poker team mate at the table.

Yes, that could be a huge problem. In fact, it probably kills the whole idea, especially for online play.

Not sure if someone else mentioned this, but there is a degree of luck involved. Seating assignments are crucial to success in a tournament. Let's say you and I are in "seat 1" at different tables so we both get the same cards and situations. But you have Phil Helmuth, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, David Sklansky, and Johnny Chan at your table. I have my 13 year old brother, the school janitor, the family dog, and George W. Bush at my table. If I finish with better results than you, can you safely assume that I played better than you did? Luck is still very much involved.

Turbo Texas Hold'em does allow you to do this...to answer the question from earlier.

So just because one guy at every table gets sucked out, it's not unlucky to get sucked out by KK?

The real problem is of course that it could not be in any huge tournament, as it would be FAR to easy to cheat. Far too easy.

A simple non-computer way to implement this game live:

Dealer sits in a different room (or just far away) from the players at a special table with multiple glass covered holes and cameras aiming up through each "window" (just like in Fox Sports Net's poker susperstars table). Dealer deals cards to each position just as he would had there been players at the table. This table could be configured differently from a typical poker table to ensure easy and accurate dealing to each position - it could be much smaller so the dealer could reach the cards in all spots easily, and each position could have a bumper on it.

Players sit at tables just like the dealer's table, except instead of cameras aiming up through the windows, they have small corresponding monitors and something to cover the window with. There would be a couple of monitors in the middle of the table that the board cards would be displayed on for all of the players to see. Players also get a "muck card" that they can turn over to signify that they are out of the hand.

Table dealers would sit at player tables and handle chips, plus they would have an "action complete" button that could signal the card dealer as to when each table is ready to see the flop, the next card, or to move to the next hand.

Just a thought.

I don't understand why you guys all think it would be so easy to cheat.

ALL bridge tournements are run this way and as far as I know cheating is not a big problem.

They would just need to put each table in a different room.

A much easier “Luck Free Poker Tournament” would to have extremely long rounds (8 hours, 24 hours maybe?) and small increase in the blinds per round. That should take the luck factor out of the tournament.
