Default Heads up against an inferior opponent

You are heads up at the end of a tourney (playing for 1st and 2nd, not 2 players left in the particular hand) against an inferior opponent that you know well, and will play most any hand. You are a little less than a 3-1 chip leader, 8700 in chips total, blinds are 200/400. 1st is ~600, 2nd is ~260, you you try and work out a deal or play it out? If you deal, what's the max you offer him??

Does your opponent think he is inferior? What is his style? Is he too tight or too loose?

Heads-up vs. and inferior opponent with a 3 to 1 chip lead, I'm not talking any deal.

If he's a worse player than you and you have a commanding chip lead, why not just beat him and take the $600 and the win?

(Answering your question, offer him $300 firm.)

I agree with this statement completely. To be precise, add up the total remaining payout and split it according to chip ratio.

If he's VERY inferior and you know him well, I'd say play it out and don't offer a deal.

But how inferior is any player who makes a MTT final two? Is he inferior enough that a short run of bad cards won't tip the scales in his favor? And as SheepCookers asked, does he think he's inferior to you?

If he is truly inferior, and with the stack sizes and blind levels where they are, I think 520/340 or 500/360 would be fair.

There are only 8700 chips in play? That would give you 5800 and your opponent 2900, which is about 7 big blinds. You've only got about 12 big blinds. If he beats you out of one pot, he's got the chip lead.

So what it comes down to is, is the extra $340 a big deal to you? Is it worth giving up ~150 for a shot at $340? Depending on the limits you play, you have to take this into consideration.

I thought he meant that HE has 8700 chips. At least that's how I read it. But now that I read his post again, it seems just as likely that he meant 8700 in play... which would make the question about a possible deal more within the bounds of reason...
