Need help with this KQ hand
I had just won a pot with AJo which looked like a steal. Here I get another hand and my read on my villain is he is a laggy.

Once he called me I thought he did but he checked again. Should I have bet the turn? If so how much? If my read is correct i dont think i get him to fold any ace. |

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
i'm sure my comments won't help much,it's late and i'm bored, lol. i pretty much play this the same here, his postflop bet is a little small so i would have had to test his conviction to this hand,i may have lost a little more then you, raising closer to a pot sized bet. he's betting out of position,so it might have been smart to give him credit for the overcard and cut your losses, but your raise accomplished something, getting you a free card,so seems pretty well played, when he bets the river it is pretty hard to call there,i may have had to out of curiousity, with over 2k in the pot,i'd have had a hard time folding to a 500 bet,ok let me take that back,i don't play it the same i call or raise the river bet, hoping somehow he was on a draw,or playing a pair like 99-qq,certainly risky, but oh well i'm gambling!

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
gettin ~4:1 (think my math is right?) on ur money here on the river, callin 500 to win ~2000, with the kings seems like a call to me, based on ur read that villain is LAG.

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
i don't like your flop raise. it doesnt tell you anything about his hand. either call or raise a lot more, i opt for a call to see what his turn action is.

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
If you think he's laggy, I think you need to call the river. The minraise on the flop followed by the turn check looks really, really weak. If you want to be able to get away from the hand on the river, you need to either raise more on the flop (I'm thinking 900-1000) or fire out again on the turn when checked to(again, something like 1000 into a pot that is about 2300 is probably good).
Given all of that, this actually seems like a pretty good way to induce a river bet from a hand that you beat; from LAG's point of view, I'm probably taking a swing at that river fairly often given the turn action. |

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
I would call the flop and then decide what he has based on how much he bets on the turn. If he checks, I bet, if he bets the same amount I raise, if he bets substantially more, I fold

Re: Need help with this KQ hand
I would put him on Ax. He is beting to you so he should have something. your raise too little (make it 800 or more)
He probably thinks you have an ace and are worried about his kicker. On the river he makes a stop-bet, (you showed weakness on the turn) so if he gets reraised he can fold, if called heŽll just might have the better hand. I would call his 500 thouugh, for the info and the remote posabillity heŽs holding a PP. |
