It has to be a late 80s/early 90s pre-grunge band that everyone thinks of as hugely influential but never got enormous popularity. Pixies or My Bloody Valentine are good choices that haven't been mentioned yet. Feel free to use them in your next OOT music thread.

I just mentioned Dino Jr because I saw them in Vegas a couple of months ago and they were fresh in my mind.
