I got my heart broken today

Last week, on Monday, I was chatting online with a female friend of mine. Generally we are both very flirty toward each other but there's a mutual understanding that there's no real attraction between us. Anyway, our conversation somehow turned into me offering to be her sugar daddy. She took me up on the offer and requested that I take her to the most expensive restaurant in town "Number 5." It was really tough to find a good time for the both of us but finally we agreed to go out in 2 weeks, on Wednesday night (tonight).

Later that week, on Friday night, I ran into her and confirmed our quasi-date. I asked if I could pick her up early because I had stuff to take care of, and she said around 6 was fine and that she was going to order the most expensive thing on the menu.

So today, I did my hair and put on some nice clothes for later and when the time came for me to pick her up, I went to her house. She wasn't home and wasn't picking up her phone either, so I decided to go home til she called me back, which was pretty soon. I asked her if she was ready, and she was VERY surprised because she had been joking the entire time. She kept asking "Are you serious?" and reiterating that "Number 5" was a really expensive restaurant, as if I could not afford it. I didn't know how to react and was speechless for our very short, awkward phone conversation.

It's not a big deal as I've been talked down to by many girls and stood up before, but today I just feel really heartbroken... not sure exactly why [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Why in the world would you offer to be someone's Sugar Daddy??? Especially if you're not rich! Go get a prostitute - it's cheaper, you don't have to buy her dinner and you don't have to talk to her - and the emotional connection is exactly the same - zero.
