Default I have been brainwashed!

I just got my little hands on Ciaffone's Improve Your Poker. His quiz of 12 Hold'em hands left me not agreeing with Bob all that many times.

My flatmate then pointed out that Mason had alternate answers for these in Poker Essays III. In every case where I disagreed with Bob I agreed with Mason. I've become a little bubble of pure 2+2 thought!

I guess there could be worse things, but I don't want to be a fanboi!

didn't take the Ciafonne quiz on my own but have read the Mason essay you refer to (or maybe it was more than 1) and found Mason's arguments for playing the hands 'the 2+2 way' (for lack of a better term) to be convincing.

so...even though your way of finding out about your 2+2'ness is more interesting I guess I'm something of a fanboi also.

Do you rally aggree on question 7?

You are in the BB, its 4handed, the flop is:

K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB bets and you got J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Ciaffone says raise and Malmuth says call. Malmuth: "I cannot see why you want to narrow the field with this hand".

Well, I can. There is no need to think SB must have toppair. Raise flop and try to get the others out and hope your pair is good. If not, u got a lot of outs. This is 4handed, not 7- or 8handed. U cant wait to hit that flush, u must try to win with 2nd pair.

Exactly. Fanboi = fanboy. I.e. someone who always sides with the perceived authority and goes 'amen' every time the latter speaks. Note that the authority might still be right, but the fanboi is still a fanboi if he never puts the authority under critical scrutiny every now and then. So it sounds like the OP is not a fanboi after all.

I agreed with Bob on raising JTs, but I disagreed on A9s. Guess I am not pure 2+2 after all.
