Default heads-up vs. multiway

According to Sklansky, one shouldn't play marginal heads-up prefering hands (like K-J offsuit) in multiway pots, but one can play certain marginal hands (like K-3 suited) in late position in a multiway pot (if you can get in cheaply).

My question is: what is considered a multiway pot?
Is 4 opponents enough to throw away K-J offsuit?
Is 4 opponents enough to play K-3 suited in late position?

By the same token, what should be considered a short-handed pot for the purposes of knowing when to throw away marginal multiway prefering hands (like 7-8 suited)?

Would you consider 3 opponents a short-handed pot, a multiway pot, or something in between?

(I also asked this question in the general hold 'em section, but wasn't getting any answers, so I decided to post the same question here. I hope I'm not breaking any forum rule by doing that.)

Thank you.

Default Re: heads-up vs. multiway

In a 9-10 player game, I would start thinking short handed at 5 players. Multiway pots with the same, 5, (counting yourself). I would have a hard time playing K-3s as it could easily become a dominated hand, but if it was played only on the button it may not be too bad.
