Default Blind Defence with QJo...

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Turn: (5.50 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">Button bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button 3-bets</font>, Hero......

This is a hand I played when I was clearing the bonus at pokerstars(Pokerstars IMO has one of the tightest 1/2 games compared to other sites I have played at so please don't give me crap about table selection, they are all like this).

What is your play from where I stopped the action. This was a tight table with lots of stealing and blind defense situations coming up so I am sure villain is on a obvious blind steal.

Also, what are your thoughts on defending with QJo, is QJo too weak a hand to be defending with out of the SB?

This is a very intresting hand.

the problem with being 'sure' that he's on a steal is that sometimes he WILL have a big, even monster hand in this situation and his tendancy to steal is now getting him all the action he can handle.

but i don't fold, and the re-raise preflop is solid. after he raises on the flop, unless you know him to be a player that'll keep firing at a pot, you've gotta assume he's got SOMETHING, maybe as weak as a middle pair, but he could also have a very big hand. the question i would be asking myself is "what does HE think I am doing, and what does he think that I think he's doing?"

on the turn, the raise is good, but the three bet is trouble. i call, and check-call the river, the pot is too big, and your hand too strong, to fold.

basicly, i think you played it well, even though he's probably got you beaten.

I'd call down from here since Button can have a legitamate hand. I think QJo is good enough to defend your blind at a steal happy table. At a regular tight table I wouldn't defend my SB with QJo though. You should defend your BB vigorously and your SB less so.

I was pretty sure he hit the flop because although this table is steal happy, they tend to give up on thier steals after the flop when someone defends if they miss. I decided to see the turn and check fold unimproved. After villain 3-bet my checkraise I was pretty sure I was beat because there is no way he will bluff 3-bet and my checkraise indicated strength. I called down anyways because of the pot size.

when defending in the BB do you just call or is 3-betting better. I know when defending in the SB you should always 3-bet when defending because you want to get it headsup. But in the BB do you just call and hope to hit the flop? Or 3-bet and and fire on the flop wether you miss or hit the flop.

No the OP described the Villian as a TAG and a TAG would cap those three hands.

I don't defend with QJo in SB unless button steals all the time but backs down quickly without a hand on the flop. This doesn't happen often, so I almost always fold it.
I think your CR on the turn is sort of ok, when he 3-bets you are screwed so just call down from there.
However, with a hand this weak I would prefer check/calling the turn and bet the river. You get more action from weak hands and you don't risk getting 3-bet. If he is an aggressive player and you want to slow him down in future hands, I would sometimes check/call both turn and river.

Nah, a TAG would usually just call the 3-bet do disguise his monster HU. He might very well have AA or KK here.
