North Tahoe Poker?
I have searched here and looked at maps and there doesn't seem to be any poker on the north side of the lake. Can someone please tell me I'm wrong? I'm going to be there for the week for work and would desperately like to relieve the monotony of trade show glad-handing by getting a few hours of poker in. I've never been to Tahoe before so I don't know the area at all. Also, I'll be travelling with two non-poker playing coworkers in a single vehicle, so travel access from the Biltmore will likely be limited to short trips or an affordable cab ride.
Oh yeah, my room does not have internet access, so online play is not a viable backup option. Help! |

Re: North Tahoe Poker?
As much as I love Tahoe, the poker selection is exceptionally thin. Last time I was there(which, admittedly, has been a couple of years), there were only two rooms I saw: the one in Stateline at Harvey's, and one in a dive on the main road through Kings Beach.
Hope that helps. Call the concierge at the Biltmore for more recommendations. Also...stay on South Shore next time! |

Re: North Tahoe Poker?
I just got back from the South Shore after a 1 week vacation. I didnt try to play on the North Shore, but my impression from talking with locals is that all of the Tahoe action is in Harvey's on the South Shore. The action is not worth the drive--no regular games above 6/12, and they were unable to get a 10/20 half kill off on Saturday night with the Eagles playing at the Casino. I'd go to Reno.

Re: North Tahoe Poker?
I called the Hyatt in Incline Village about 6 months back, the guy told me they did in fact have poker, but it seemed VERY limited, like maybe 3 nights a week. Have no idea what games they spread, but it might be worth calling the Hyatt - maybe they've added a regular room since I last called. If you find out anything, let me know - I'll be in North Tahoe this coming October.

Re: North Tahoe Poker?
I think one of the clubs across from the Biltmore has poker at least a few nights a week. This should be the best time to be there through Labor Day.

Follow-Up
There are only two poker "rooms" in the North Tahoe area - two tables at the Nugget (across the street from the Biltmore) and 4-5 tables at the Hyatt (about 5 miles away). Dunno anything about the games at the Hyatt, but I played for a while one night in the 2-6 spread game at the Nugget.
11pm on Friday night and they could only get one table going. Real chips, but paper cards. The game was pretty good though, thanks to some excessive action by a couple of players. Highlight hands include: * TPTK on flop w/ AQ taken down by underplayed KK * about a million flush and open-ended draws not coming in * TPTK on flop w/ AK actually holds up allowing me to drag one pot all night Final result: 2 hours @ -$200 = -16.7BB/Hour. Yay. |
