Awfully Correct or Just Plain Awful?
I felt like I was correct to play this hand the way I did because of size of the pot. But then again, I am nearly sure I'm beat and in that case it just seems plain crazy. So I'll do a little explaining.
Flop I bet figuring UTG+1 will raise scaring people off (despite most likely being in the odds to call with almost anything) Ditto on the turn. Call on the river because of huge pot. Possible overplay of lower pp, though not likely, doesn't need to be. Re: Awfully Correct or Just Plain Awful?
on the flop you're getting close to the odds to chase a 2-outer, so with implied you can go for it. Betting out and calling the raise is fine, but don't lead the turn. You're just buring off chips here. There's a very good chance you're beat here, but I'd probably call down from the flop because of the size of the pot.

There's no sense to betting the flop. What hands are you hoping to fold? What hands will UTG+1 raise?

Re: Awfully Correct or Just Plain Awful?
Any read on UTG+1?
Pre-flop, I don't like the cap with four opponents, no position, and a pre-flop 3-better to your left. On the flop, this is where a read would come in handy. Unless he's a maniac pre-flop, what 3-betting hands do you beat right now? KQs, TT, possibly 88 if he's very aggressive pre-flop? On the turn, you're either way ahead or way behind. Why bet out? What draw does MP2 have that you want to knock out to protect your hand?; alternatively, do you think he's folding an A? Given the size of the pot, I think I just check/call this one down. Edit: I'm rethinking check/call if UTG+1 bets and MP2 calls. Anyone else think overcalling this turn is burning money even in a pot this size? |

Re: Awfully Correct or Just Plain Awful?
I dont think that you needed to cap PF.
On the flop, it looks like you are only ahead of TT, unless UTG is extremely loose in his PF re-raising standards. I would probably have checked this hand on the flop and let it go to a bet (the pot would have been 16.5sb, because I would not have capped PF). Even if you had decided to call a flop bet (ok if pot is 21.5sb or bigger), I would have definitely check/folded the turn UI. |

Re: Awfully Correct or Just Plain Awful?
Just a reminder that post flop you invested 4BBs to win 20BB on a hand that's almost certainly beaten and has 0-2 outs (against an ace) or 2 outs against KK/QQ.
