Default SomeThing GOOD happened to me!

Poker forums are usually filled stories of bad beats or how inherently unlucky we poker players are. Well, today I won the biggest pot of my life and I must say that It felt good. So good in fact that I thought I would vent my joy on 2+2. But lo and behold there's no where for me to do so!

So I decided to create a thread in which to vent positive poker vibes. Maybe you've had a good day financially, perhaps good enough to turn the scales to go from fish to winning player. Maybe you've had some kind of poker epiphany, getting over the fear of losing, managing to get the 'gamble' out of you, or maybe learning when to get up and leave the table.

These are just a few suggestions, a few things that came to mind. You can come up with your own ideas of course.I don't know where I heard it, but I remember hearing that venting enjoyable experiences you've had with an activity is good, why? I don't know.

I guess i'll get the ball rolling with my hand:

5/10 NL on prima Poker
6 handed
(~$1,200)Hero is UTG and limps with Aces.
All fold to (~$400)SB (Damn it!) who completes.
BB(~$4,000) checks. (Double Damn!)
flop: J88
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $10, SB raises to $20, BB raises to $30 (Damnit, i'm beat, still...) Hero call, SB calls.

Turn: J88(3)
All check around.

River: J883(A)

SB checks, BB bets All in, Hero changest shorts, then calls, Sb folds.
BB shows: J8 for full house, eights full of Jacks.
Hero shows: AA for a full house, Aces full of eights.

This Hand was especially good for me, because now the biggest pot I've won is bigger then biggest pot I've lost, which is just good for me mentally.

Alrite, so don't leave this thread hanging. Post up some uplifting stuff!

Nice hand, bet it felt incredible to take that down. How big was the pot exactly?

I am sooo glad to see people saying upbeat things. I get very tired of whining.

Al

Default SomeThing GOOD is happening to me!

I have been playing limit hold'em since January. I have read a number of poker books, taken copious notes, compared these notes, reread the books. I have spent time every day reading the twoplustwo forums and posting. I talk about poker with the couple friends I have who play and my father. (I tend to jump into my hobbies with both feet.)

The GOOD? In early September I became a winning player at the low limits. Being a winning player is not about luck. Or you might say a good player makes his own luck(long term). Congrats on your fortunate river card, but your story strikes me as a "gambling" story more than a "poker" story. The rush of risk and uncertainty and all. This is a feeling you can become "addicted" to...

So what would you have done if faced with a large bet on the turn?

And sorry if I am raining on your post(parade).

Good post.

I have one bit of good news. Yesterday I BOTCHED a set of jacks, perhaps the worst-er-est hand I have played in a very, very long time. I wanted to just vomit in a barf bag at the table after the hand. But at least I admit that I botched it. The good part was that I only lost $20 on the hand (I botched it by NOT playing it as I should have - just friggin' BET YOUR HAND ALREADY AL).

Still, I did win $100 in the game by getting some value out of my good hands. So it was a good day anyway!

From last night: I'm in BB with 22. Guy who buys in pretty short open raises on the button. I call. Flop 975r. I check/call. Turn 2, I check/raise/raise/raise. He has 1/4 a big bet left. We get that in on the river 9. He flopped a straight and I runner-runnered a boat. Whoops.
