Because it is in the best of their interest. The rake of multitabling winning players does not compensate for the deterioration of the games. Fish get hammered quicker, need more reloads or leave earlier (bust).

Lord knows I'm no Econ major, but this seems to me akin to saying if we get rid of all the rich people, the poor people will be that much richer.

The fact of the matter is winning players are the foundation of ANY good poker room, period. Otherwise, you have a constant strwam of layers buying in, losing, and leaving. If the top 10% of all players left Party right now, they would likely lose 30%-50% of their rake IMMEDIATELY, and all that would happen is the mid-level players would now be making the $$$, and the bad players would MAYBE play 10-20% longer. No chance it makes up for the rake good players accrue, period. ENd of story.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not getting why the top 10% of players would leave if the games remain as soft as they are.

Sigh.

It's a theoretical situation....

Aren't you cardroom manager at the Bike? Do you REALLY think that if you took out the top 30% of your players there who put in 60% of the play that you would easily recoup it?

So sad for me to see posters I respect using such flawed logic.

Quick question, guys; Why do poker rooms allow consistent winners to continue playing in their room? Obviously, using your logic, they would be better off backing off winners, just like they do in blackjack, since that would allow the fish to swim longer.

Sounds pretty stupid, huh?

Suppose Party Poker eliminated all the winning players. The break even players would become the new winning players, and many of the losing players would become the new break even players. Keep repeating that process and soon you will have no players at all. However, while you still have players, some will be losers, some will be break even, and some will be winners.

It is possible to have a pokergame that nobody could win, but for that to exist two things have to happen. 1) all the players have to be close in skill. 2)The rake has to be sufficiently high to eliminate the small skill differences between the players.

Party made less than 10% of it's profits from the players on it's skins. Looking at the numbers playing now it looks like 20-25% of the players play on skins. Won't take too many of them to go back to party for them to break even will it?

But why would someone play on party w/out rakeback when there are a ton of comparable sites that are nearly as fish and offer you rakeback. All in all it seems that unless party offers some sort of rakeback, it will be more +EV for a good player to play at other sites
