Default Going to Glasgow, Scotland

I'm headed to the University of Glasgow on Janurary 1st for six months. Any 2+2ers around those parts? I'm hoping to play a lot of live poker (I've never played in a casino due to age restrictions) and would love to meet some of you crazy cats.

I'm also going to travel for a month in Europe, but that won't be until June.

You can either reply or send a PM.

I'm in Edinburgh, and the casinos here don't seem to be worth it, but Glasgow seems better from what I read online. I feel a little odd about going alone especially since I'm far younger than the average age I would expect to find there, and not veyr B&M experienced. Anyways, would love to come by and hit up some live poker when you come.

Edit: Have you done any research on Glasgow casinos?

Yeah, a little. They spread poker and pot limit tournaments. The Scottish Poker Masters also take place there.

I'm down for all sorts of adventures, so I'll shot you a PM.

I studied in Edinburgh in the winter of 2004. I found some gambling friends and we went to the Gala Maybury a bunch. Originally just played Blackjack but I think I also played 3 times in the NLHE rebuy tourneys that ran a couple times a week. I had no idea what I was doing at that point but I did manage to win the second one I played so I guess it was fun. So, if you want to play I know that you can take the train over to Edinburgh. The casino is on the road to the airport so jsut figure out the closest stop and take a cab or try and deal with the confusing Edinburgh bus system's web site. Good luck.

the gala casino (right near the cylde. south of central station) holds several tournaments a week. from what i remember (played once) it was a 50-pound freeze-out.

there are also a few clubs around the city. i had a number/card for one (have since lost it). and from my knowledge it wasn't the only one in the city.

there is poker in glasgow. just not on a massive scale.

another note: glasgow is such a wounderful city. i spent 4months there a couple of years ago. make sure to catch a few football games and be prepared for good scottish hospitality while finishing off a few pints of 'heavy'

Glasgow has a few card rooms running at the moment. Two actual casinos have poker nights, the riverboat being the main one. There are also two poker only clubs.

I don't bother with the tournaments much as they are pretty low stakes bar festivals and a few £50 rebuys. They have fairly deep stacked 1-1-2 cash games consisting of mostly 5-6 card omaha. Some quite sick hands there and the play is horrible.

Pm me and I'll give you more detail.
