There have been multiple incidents with my mom stuck in the front yard with a bear between her and the house, not to mention broken birdfeeders and a large mess. They just now have finally gotten rid of the whole thing altogether. |

I think if you put a large, plastic/plexiglass disk around the support pole, they won't be able to climb past it. The diameter has to be large enough so that they can't anchor on the pole with their back feet and reach the edge with their front feet.
If they're as smart as Chip & Dale (and you're as dumb as Donald Duck) you're screwed. |

Put grease on the pole and they won't be able to climb up. Not nearly as fun as the BB gun but should be effective.
