Default QJs, facing preflop raise

After whoring the bonuses at the Party Skins, I saw that PokerStars has a reload bonus. I ask myself later, why am I playing .50/1.00 to clear a bonus at PokerStars? But I digress.

Reads: preflop raiser is a TAG. MP3 is a LAG.

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, SB calls, Hero calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (10 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(5 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises</font>, MP3 calls, SB folds, Hero calls.

I have a backdoor flush draw with 2 overs. The TAG is raising about 10% of his hands, so I'm not going to give him credit for a pocket pair that beats me. Still, in this raised pot with all of these cold-callers, if I'm going to continue, I'll have to protect my hand. So I bet into the preflop raiser. Good play? No?

Turn: (8 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises</font>, Hero calls, MP1 folds.

I pick up my flush draw and it's 5:1 to me to call. Fine.

River: (13 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 bets</font>, Hero calls.

Easy call, playing the board for the straight.

Final Pot: 15 BB

The preflop raiser was pretty aggressive before the flop. I figured if I bet into him, he'd raise and protect my hand for me. Should I just check/call instead providing that I have the odds?

I dont understand the flop at all. You dont have any sort of a hand to protect, you are drawing. I think its pretty unlikely you are gonna clean up your overcard outs because the PFR probably has you slaughtered with something like AK-AJ/AA-TT. All I see is you putting in 2 bets where you should be putting in 1 max.

So, assume that the preflop raiser is on the button, should I just check/call that flop?

Edit: What I mean is, what do you consider before you determine whether or not it's profitable to invest an extra bet with your overcards? I do have a backdoor draw, but the flop is not quite ragged. Should the fact that the board is quite coordinated make this a check/call instead?

You don't have anything to "protect"

Check the flop. Then. after the PFR bets, fold.
