I think you guys are getting the terminology wrong:

Landscape is the traditional format for the monitor, the longer dimension on the horizontal;

Portrait has the monitor turned 90 degrees, the longer dimension on the vertical.

With a decent flatscreen it's possible to flip it 90 degrees so you get the screen in proper portrait mode. I know some graphics people seriously prefer to work that way, and I can't think of a reason a monitor of this caliber won't come with that as an option.

If the mounting is vesa compliant then it's a moot point, as long as it can handle portrait you just buy a new mount for $30.

The apple 30" display is already out. Why is everyone cumming over this? Check them out at the apple store. They will make your 2405fpw look like a piece of crap.

Probably because this will be much cheaper than Apple's, especially after some good coupons come out.

You can get Apple's for like $2300 now. Sounds like the same price to me.
