Default Grand Casino Coushatta trip report, or, when donkeys attack!

I hadn't seen the new poker room at Grand Casino Coushatta in Kinder, Louisiana, yet, so I loaded up with a couple of other 2+2ers (Wai and Sean) and off we went. The room is NICE with 20 tables. There were 14-15 running last night with 1/2 of them NL and the other 1/2 3-6-12. The bad beat was up to 115K. 2 hours play get you a $5 food comp, 4 hours play gets you $10.

We lucked out right away and all got seated at table 4 (3-6-12) where we instantly noticed 2+2er Mitch was in the 1 seat. The rest of the table were Tight Old Men (TOM's) and Tight Old Ladies (TOL's).

We played about 2 orbits to get a feel for the table, and then this hand happens:

Wai straddles my blind and announces that he's playing this hand blind. I announce that I too will not look at my cards. Its folded around to the button (TOM) who calls, I raise, Wai 3-bets, the button calls, I cap, Wai calls and TOM comes along. We haven't even touched our cards.

The flop is 8 rag rag, with the 2 rags being hearts. I bet out blind, Wai raises blind, and the button FOLDS!?!?!? We fall out of our chairs laughing while the TOM's waited for us to finish the hand. I called the raise, and we bet/called to the end. Wai had A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] for the busted flush, and I had 8 10 offsoot for the winner!

Next orbit I straddle the TOM sitting next to me. He grumbles something about taking all of my money before the night is over and raises. I re-raise blind, it gets capped and the flop is 10 A J. TOM bets out and I finally peek and see 10 10! Needless to say I donked my way to a big pot on that hand.

The TOMS's eventually asked for and got tables changes and various oddball players came and went throughout the night. Mr. WPT sat on my right, put on the headphones, Oakley's, pulled down his Hellmuth hat and proceeded to check/call away his rack in 20 minutes.

A girl with a VERY NICE rack (not the chips) sits down next to me and, being the slightly drunk guy that I am, I start to flirt with her. She works security at the Isle of Capri in Lake Charles, and her husband (blech) is a slot tech. She's playing a pretty T/A game and this hand comes up:

I get K J offsuit UTG and raise. Various callers and Miss Rack re-raises. I call, the rest call. The Flop is Q 10 3. She bets out, I raise, a few cold callers, she calls and we see the turn which is BINGO an Ace. She checks, I bet, the rest fold, and she calls telling the dealer to pair the board. The river is 3 and she instantly bets out 12. Ugh...I cry and call.

2+2er Sean gets a str8flush on the turn in one hand, and gets paid of nicely when another player has a flush and still another a str8. He opts of the ugly red casino hat instead of the chip spinner thingy and we make fun of him the rest of the night.

I only saw 2 minor dealer mistakes, and only heard the call out for the floor once the whole evening. Its a little farther drive for me so I don't go there much, but you guys from Texas will enjoy the new room.

Thanks for listening.

And what did you think of the great city of Kinder, LA? So did they reopen the 2 Lake Chrarles casinos? If they are still closed thats probably why it was so crowded. Obviously that place has come a long way for when I went there and there were only 5 total tables (3 running). Is the rake $4 or $5?

Kinder still has that small town feel to it.

The Isle is open, but Harrah's is still crashed on the beach.

The rake is 4 max plus 1 for the jackpot.
