DVI input question

Already posted this in CompTechHelp but the traffic is slow and as the FAQ suggests....

So, just got a dual video card, main monitor hooked up through vga, the second through the DVI (both dell lcd's), but when I put the monitor on Digital input it seems to turn black and go into auto powersave. Settings under the desktop has no mention of a second monitor (as Ancients FAQ suggests) so I'm wondering if I have to "turn on" the dvi port or something. I installed the drivers that came with the card and looked through the taskbar menu for the hardware (nvidia) but cant find anything. Any ideas?
