Safe/Smart or Missed Opportunities?
Pretty sure I'm playing too tight.

Re: Safe/Smart or Missed Opportunities?
I don't like your raises in Situation 1 or 2. I generally want to win the pot preflop with A-K, especially with the blinds and antes being high.
Situation 1: When the loose-passive player limped UTG, I think you should have raised to at least 2,000. If he calls this raise, then the pot will be 4,600. On the flop I would bet about 3,000. If he calls, he could have anything since he is a loose player. You can still get away from this hand if he comes over the top, but by raising more preflop and betting more than half of the pot on the flop, you have forced him to make tougher decisions. Situation 2: When you re-raise a player preflop, it should generally be at least 3 times the amount of the raise. In this case I would put in about 12,000. Now, it's a tougher decision for him to call because it will be for half of his stack. |

Re: Safe/Smart or Missed Opportunities?
Hand 1: Your continuation bet isn't large enough, bet like 2/3-3/4 of the pot and I think you will see more people fold.
Hand 2: If you are gonna raise half of your stack then put the other half in on the flop. Pushing preflop with your 10.5xBB stack is the best line here on this hand. |
