Default 5/10 NL 6 Max....TPTK facing the old CMR

Villain in this hand is chaznyjets. He is 33/10/2. My notes on him say the following:

1) Do not try to bluff him off top pair
2) Makes blocking bets on river and still calls decent size raises with marginal hands

Not sure if any of this effects the hand...

BB ($1072)
UTG ($975)
MP ($4003.65)

SB ($1217)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $5.
UTG calls $10, MP calls $10, Hero raises to $55, 2 folds, UTG calls $45, MP folds.

UTG checks, Hero bets $115, UTG raises to $230, Hero calls $115.

I like just calling flop, that way if you're vs. a draw you can push a safe turn and he only has 1 card to hit. If a sick turn comes you can get away from the hand.

your notes tell you that he pays off with top pair here, so push.

Yes. I always seem to lose to a set, but I still manage to convince myself that he has top pair or a draw the next time. I like your line, though.

Uhm, shoving is pretty terrible vs. random opponent in isolation. Random players don't call with worse hands when you shove the flop (but they'll bet the turn), nor is their hand range predominately draws. And even if it were, almost no one checks the turn when their draw whiffs.

If you plan to continue, this is super easy call unless opponent is a donkey or everyone at the table thinks you're overaggro/semibluff all-in happy. Call flop, shove or fold turn. Calling turn almost always sucks.

Vs. this dude, if memory serves, I'd probably just shove it all-in. He doesn't like being pushed around and you're the type of player everyone is suspicious of.

I guess my original post should have read....all in now (on the turn) or you should've folded the flop. That's what I meant anyways

Kinda looks like Villian is pricing himself in on a straight or flush draw with the small 1/3 pot turn bet. The flop miniraise is consistent with a draw for some players also.
