Default The Morongo

I have decided to make a venture out the the Morongo, seeing as it is so close to me ( I live in L.A.) What can I expect there in terms of a card room? Their web site said they had around 22 tables. What games do they spread, limits, etc.? Is the action any good or is it dead there? Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you're looking for. I've played 2/4 limit there but they also spread 3/6 on up. Lots of no limit games -- players are mad for NLHE at Morongo -- you should get plenty of action. Waiting list can be long on weekends for the no limit and very low-limit games. They have daily tourneys but I don't have any details. There are earlier postings in this category about the quality of play, IIRC.

The room is separate from the main casino, just inside the back entrance and behind a glass wall. It has its own restrooms; no need to venture into the smoky casino/smoky bathrooms. Electronic signup board. Lots of plasma TVs. The lighting's pretty lousy. No in-room coffee/water setup that I could see -- everything's ordered through the bar waitresses.

All in all, it's a pretty nice setup, but... You say you live in L.A. With all the great poker rooms there, Morongo's worth a trip only if you want to sample the rest of the hotel/resort.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Stay away from this S-hole.

This place is awful, been there twice and hated every minute of it.

No action, terrible dealers, crappy tables and chips, terrible floor and managing staff.

If you live in LA and are under 21 drive up north to the Chumash casino in Santa Barbara.

Morongo sucks donkey taint.

My favorite Morongo moment was either when a guy went off for 7 bets on the river against my BB special nuts or when the floorman refused to let me get a chip count when we got heads-up at the end of a tourney. The floorman's reasonsing was "Kid, you watch too much TV". I guess the chip count didnt matter as the blinds were 64K and 128K and there were barely 500K chips in play! Never mind, the highlight was when some old dude had a heart attack, lay not moving for 5 minutes, and then got back up and at 'em in his 3/6 game. Great place all around!
