With an EP raise and allin reraise in front of you, TT is not a difficult hand to throw away.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but David knows Josh likes to raise with a wide range of hands, so it's likely his TT is good.

Dave's also shown a propensity to avoid big confrontations to move up the prize ladder (see the final table of the WSOP). I know he has a lot of chips and won't get knocked out there but there's no pressing need to gamble at this point. Even with aggressive players like Arieh and Ivey being the ones putting in the bets, at least one of them could have a bigger pair.

I don't think folding the TT is automatic, but I don't believe it to be a poor play.

Dan 2.65M
Dave 2.3M
Josh 1.3M

Dave raises w/ A4c to 120k. Dan mucks 43 in the SB and Josh has 92 in the BB and he reraises to 370k. Dave folds.

****

Josh has J9 and limps on the button. Dave folds and Dan checks w/ 96c.
Flop T53 two clubs. Dan bets 40k and Josh calls w/ Jack high.
Turn offsuit 7 and Dan checks. Josh has a gutshot and bets 225k. Dan calls.
River 4, making Dan's straight. He bets 550k and Josh moves in for 470k more. Dan calls and busts Josh's Jack high.

Josh is out in 3rd for $286,900.

What the hell was that? That has to be the worst play in WPT history.

[/ QUOTE ]Josh raised UTG though. The range of hands David would put Josh on narrows when he comes in from that position. The idea of two hands worthy of an UTG raise and an all-in reraise decreases the percieved value of TT. If Josh hadn't come in, Phil could've been knocked out on the first hand.

I'm always a bit leery when someone comes into a hand UTG, whether it be a raise or a limp.

Well, I just lost a lot more respect for Daniel Negreanu.

Super slowroll, Dan!

David Williams was big enough to put on a smile and congratulate him, though.
I thought that was big of him.

I wasn't a fan of David Williams before, but I am now.
Except for a couple of big mistakes, he outplayed Negreanu.
