Re: Confused about 73o

the pot isn't big enough to go after. [/ QUOTE ] Actually I just realized... by the time the c/r goes in, the pot is now 5.5BB. That's kinda not trivial. |

Re: Confused about 73o
I think actually the optimal line would have been to just check in it through once the third ace hit.
Induce/Snap a bluff on the river. Small Pot, free cards not a disaster, etc etc Sarge[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] |

Re: Confused about 73o

If it's 50/50, then obviously call it down. But I think OPs beat more than 50% of the time, and the pot isn't big enough to go after. [/ QUOTE ] Given the pot odds, you need to win less than 25% of the time to break even with a call down. |

Re: Confused about 73o
I think we can call down here. We're either behind a slowplayed A, or ahead of a small pp or K high. It's a possibility we're behind a poorly played 88 or 99, but I think anything bigger would have raised for sure. 50/50 situation I think.

Almost all the time, hero wins this pot with a bet on the turn and secures 100 hands worth of profit. |

Re: Confused about 73o
[ QUOTE ]
I'd be 3-betting this turn with the idea of taking a free showdown. [/ QUOTE ] I really think this is a bad idea. What is hero gaining by 3-betting here? My impression of good hands to raise for a free showdown are hands that have a good chance of improving on the river while at the same time having decent showdown value. In this case we have a 0% chance of improving, but we do have showdown value, so if you were going to 3-bet it would be for value IMO and not for a free showdown. That being said I like calling the turn and calling the river if bet into or betting if checked to. |

Re: Confused about 73o
The flop bet is fine but if we're not prepared to fold to a raise on the turn I think we should check call. I'm not too worried about giving six outers a free river as I don't think anybody with a six outer to your hand would have called the flop bet to begin with. Generally, the only hands that call this flop are ones with an ace, a seven, or a pocket pair.

While it is a small pot, I just can't fold this. I can't find a raise anywhere either. Call down seems best. |
