I like Classical myself...I concentrate a lot better with classical or ambient music than music with words. Bach and Philip Glass are some of my favorites while playing. Romantic composers are nice too.

Ambient music for me too. Some classical - any music without words. Helps me concentrate or relax me if I make a stupid decision or suffer a beat or two.

As far as the Romantic composers, which ones are your favorite while playing?

There's a radio station here in Seattle that streams and is awesome. KEXP.org is a member supported station with an eclectic mix of modern music, with specialty shows featuring electronica, World Pop, Rockabilly, Alt Country, Thrash, etc. Great mix, knowledgable DJ's, non-commercial. It's the dogs bollucks

In Tacoma, was not aware of this station. I echo it is quality.

Also if I am to play my own selections, it would be Anything from the Windam Hill Lable

grateful dead - i didnt realize there were other choices

pitifully few alternatives, indeed. I listen to at least one live show each day. I think in about 6 or 7 years I will have exhausted the supply

XM Radio is nice for blues, world, reggae, and the GD Hour.

While playing full ring, something that keeps my attention really well, as even 4 tabling full ring is boring.

6 max, it changes.

GANGSTER RAP. Mobb Deep, Scarface, Cage (just mean).

OR

Fast, heavy, mean, hardcore.

THINK I CARE is my primary choice.

If you want to listen to some really aggressive stuff, IM me and I will send you their latest stuff. It's not nu-metal, if that's what you're thinking.

Listening to gangster rap/hardcore makes me steal blinds and get that river aggro up.

If i'm trying to concentrate, like tune out the noise of the kids watching tv, it must be something without lyrics.

My brain cannot listen to music, or anything, without paying attention and trying to understand it. So i go with classical.

My favorite is the soundtrack from Conan the Barbarian, by Basil Poledoris. There are a few "lyrics," but its not in english and its melodic, so its easy to tune it out.

When i need to get aggressive, its all about the hardcore gangsta rap. Since i've been listening to rap since the eighties, I have lots of favorites. Some for just the driving beat, and some for the specific lyrics (like "Paid in Full" by Eric B and Rakim, or "I got bitches that buy me clothes" by 11-5).
