Default Help on choosing seating in relation to players

I feel that one area I need work on is in choosing the correct seat when I join a game online or live. I know that it matters but I never know how to choose the correct seat in regards to their stack sizes and how they play. I always buy in at the max and I do play TAG / LAG so if someone could explain how this factors into my decision I would be thankful.

sit to the left of the major table presence (xtraloose players, calling stations or standard lag), unless that player is a maniac, then sit to his immediate right.

Contrary to popular belief, it is a good idea to sit immediately to the right of bad LAGs. I would rather be to the left of a good LAG, though. I also want to sit to the left of short stack, all-in donks.

I don't think short stacks have enough money to influence where I sit. It's also very easy to checkraise their stacks away when you've got a nice piece of the flop.

And by bad LAGs it depends on what you mean. If maniacs then yes. If they fire at any flop and check any turn UI I'll take position on them. If they're bad because they call too much, I'll also take position.

That's what I meant. A certain type of bad LAG will run other players head first into your big hands.

What would you guys then recommend for a live game with no max buy in. I am sitting at around 200 dollars with people at the table averaging around 400-1k?

No max buy-in? ruh roh lol. Alot of places recommend sitting the to left of big stacks, as money tends to flow to the left...but I choose seats more on player styles than stacks

if u dont have any information on the way players play, then just sit to the left of the money. this way u will have position on the bigger stacks.
