Default First trip to AC

Hey all, I'm about to head to AC this coming week, and I need a little info. I have checked about 20 pages of this forum, tried to use the search function, and checked the homepage for the Borg and the Taj, and still can't find out what the rake is. So what is it?
I'm familiar enough with online, but have never played live except for a profusion of home games. I have etiquette down ok, thanks to the first post in this forum.
Also which room should I go to?
Do you get comped for poker alone, and what other obscure conventions will set me straight for a decent experience?

Don't want to look like I haven't done it before or anything, it would be tragic for everyone to think I sucked!

In a non timecharge game the rake is %10 up to $4.

What limit and game are you interested in? Taj, Borgata and Tropicana all have comp cards. You use them to clock in when you get into a game (hand them to floorperson) and clock out when you leave at the podium. At Trop, they come scan ur cards on the hour. In either case, you get a buck an hour for low limit (50 cents for REALLY low) and 2 an hr for 10-20 and higher (more for high limits at Taj).

Key note. In AC if you pay for one parking garage, keep the receipt. The other casinos will honor it for their garages for 24 hours.

Certainly get a players card where you play. I like touring going from room to room. You'll also find a good amount of tournys if you enjoy those. Just look up each casino's schedule.

you accumulate comps on your player account in dollars. so for each hour you play, you get $1. When you want to get some food or something, they deduct it from the balance in your player account.

I believe the rake is the same for all games up to the higher limits where they start a time-charge. It's 10% up to 4 dollars for rake. I think they start a time charge at 15/30 and above at most places. I don't play the higher limits yet so I don't have much info on it.

The rake is standard in AC... so it applies to all pokerrooms. Remember to call for half-rake when the table gets down to 5. I do this at the Taj and they always oblige. It also motivates them to fill the tables.

Although it's been answered already, this prompted me to notice that this page:

is missing the time charges. Hopefully someone will add them, as well as rakes for the Taj and other rooms .

I assume that you are going this weekend. You should know that at the Showboat there is a World Series of poker satalite and at the Taj the Trump Clasic. You may want to stay away from those two. Here is a site that is dedicated to AC and rates all the rooms for you.
