Should I stay or should I go?
Hello 2+2 land,
Here's a hand that puzzled me. I called w/ my Axs and then it was checked around to me on the flop so I bet. Then on the turn a 6 comes up and I get bet into. This guy had played 4 hands so at the time I had no idea about him. I called down mostly b/c I had top pair, but I was pretty sure it wasn't going good for me. Anyways holla at your boy with comments (I needed a little flavor there) Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 folds, CO folds, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks. Flop: (5 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, BB folds, UTG folds, MP2 calls. Turn: (4 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, MP2 bets, Hero calls, SB folds. River: (6 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) MP2 bets, Hero calls. Final Pot: 8 BB Thanks, -Ftball |

Re: Should I stay or should I go?
What about a Turn raise? Are you so convinced that the A with the nut flush draw isn't worth another bet?

On the turn your hand got better, why not raise?

Re: Should I stay or should I go?
If hero raises the turn and is called and a river blank comes, should he value bet the river?

Re: Should I stay or should I go?
I would check behind on the river after a turn raise. He only beats A2 here. Seems to me like MP had A6 and paired his kicker.

Re: Should I stay or should I go?
The way the turn bettor played the hand, it's unlikely he'd fold to a turn raise. This is the main reason I like calling here instead of raising. If you make your hand, you hope he bets into you again on the river so you can raise and earn an extra BB.

RESULTS
Thanks to all that replied, villian had A6o so I am big loser. To those that suggested I raise the turn, I didn't for a couple of reasons:
1) The sudden bet of villian seemed to indicate a pretty good hand 2) A raise on the turn might get a check/call check/fold on the river if the 3rd spade comes. Whereas if I call on the turn and raise the river, the villian should not expect runner runner for me. Thanks for the replies, -Ftball |

No- A turn raise should be considered only if it has semi-bluff value, with the way the action went i would never expect a better hand to fold for this bet. Wait till the river, raise if you hit call if you don't. Side note: raise or just call if a 3 comes on the river and he bets again? |
