3: fold (raise or fold preflop)

[/ QUOTE ]

Routinely folding hands like A5o to a small blind open raise is way too tight. You're definitely losing a lot of money to anyone who raises every time.

People seem to agree that reraising is a good idea. I'm wondering, what is your reraising range? Why do you reraise, is it mainly to take the initiative?

If I'm the preflop raiser, which seems to be most of the time I see a flop, my default play is to bet or raise unless I have a specific reason not to.

[/ QUOTE ]

Can you elaborate on this? What are you looking for to tell you not to bet/raise?

[/ QUOTE ]

Scary boards: two or three cards higher than mine, monotone flop, highly coordinated flop like JT8, obvious stuff like that. I also look for passive opponents playing aggressively. And of course, if the pot is three or more handed I'll back off if I have nothing and there is some action.

Hand 4: Really obvious continuation bet (without a read). Betting is correct against most opponents even with a read.

I of course bet here, which is why I made this post. I'm starting to rethink how automatic this is. This type of board is likely to have hit my opponent. Do you fold if check-raised? I guess you have to, since you've only got one overcard and a backdoor straight draw. What if he calls and donkbets a blank turn?

i didn't say to fold it preflop. i said raise or fold, and the choice comes down to what the guy's range is. am i going to 3-bet a semi-rock here? probably not, unless i feel i can blow him off something on a rag flop.

and yeah, the reason to reraise is because you already have multiple things going for you: you have a strong hand, you're in position, and you can usually play better than the SB postflop (by hand-reading and evaluating board texture). giving yourself the chance to bet first is huge in a blind battle.

Sorry, I read the OP as a 6handed 6max game (since thats what the topic sounds like when some1 says 1/2 6max).
