I'm assuming this entry is just Contra I. If it included the entire Contra series, including Contra III:The Alien Wars, this decision would be a LOT harder for me.

You may think that MK is a SF rip off, but the Fatalities are what really set this game apart, even above, SF.

Results are scary. Tetris is the chess of video games, it should destroy every other game on this list; Mortal Kombat is the worst console game on there, no way it should be that close. Super Metroid is better than SMB3, not by much, but it is. Either not enough people have played Super Metroid, or too many people have seen The Wizard. Super Metroid against Super Mario World would be a better match up. I didn't get a computer until a few years ago, so I can't comment on all of those.
