Default $11: pocket eights, push on flop with two jacks

Seat 3: tomahawkchop ($1,460)
Seat 6: Hero [8H,8S] ($2,045)
Seat 7: Rossitron ($2,220)
Seat 8: Mo-Money04 ($4,130)
Seat 9: lauz1 ($3,455)
Seat 10: waran00 ($1,690)
ANTES/BLINDS
Mo-Money04 posts blind ($75), lauz1 posts blind ($150).

PRE-FLOP
waran00 folds, tomahawkchop folds, Hero bets $400, Rossitron folds, Mo-Money04 calls $325, lauz1 calls $250.

FLOP [board cards JD,6C,JC ]
Mo-Money04 checks, lauz1 checks, Hero bets $1,645 and is all-in...

Ok so I'm risking my $1600 (and my tournament life)to win the $800 in the pot. I make this play because I'm pretty sure I have the best hand, I don't want to give anyone a chance to make a move on me.

For example, suppose one of the checkers has 77 or a flush draw. If I bet 800 on the flop instead of moving in, he might put me on just overcards and reraise all in. At this point, I'd have a difficult call and would probably end up folding the best hand because I'd put him on the J.

So..push or bet?

2 things. First, never bet half of your stack and fold. The same thing can likely be accomplished by betting 1/4th of your stack.

Second, never say the phrase "risking my tournament life" in regards to sngs. It's an overly dramatic statement created by mtters and TV announcers that just doesn't apply to stt structure. You should be "risking your tournament life" 15+ times within 70 hands or so. It's not a big deal.

You're right, betting 800 and folding to a raise is terrible.

And sorry about the dramatic statement...but in your opinion is a bet of about 400 and an auto-fold to a raise better than just pushing?
