Phoenix area players untie! Sit and Go tournaments...
To all the players in the Phoenix metro area and those that drop by from time to time...
I had a long talk with one of the senior floor people at Fort McDowell last night. We talked about what we with Internet access refer to as a sit and go tournament. We talked about how and why and we both came to the idea that it might be possible. I plan to speak to Mike (card room manager) about this in the near future. But before I even approach him about adding S&G tournaments to the line up at the Fort, I would like to have some customer weight behind the request. Ultimately the actual costs and structures of the games will be in the hands of the casino. This means there maybe more vig/fees than we might ideally like to see, but the bottom line is that if this is going to work for all we might have to give up more than we are used to on the Internet with the standard 10% fee. But frankly there is no need for a fee much more than 10%, maybe 15% or 20% to cover drop and dealer. The Fort is the ideal place to start this. With the computer board system, it would be VERY easy for the floor/management to manage to games. There is almost always two or three free tables and dealers. You go in swipe your card, sit a 3/6 or 4/8 game while you wait for the S&G tournament to fill up. Floor checks the list, calls the game, you play for an hour or two, and jump back on the list for another and go back to your 3/6 or 4/8 game. If the Fort gets it running and starts drawing players, then the other rooms in town will have to do the same. There are lots of things that could make it fail, but its worth a shot. So if you are interested, please reply to this thread. Express your wants, desires and concerns. At some point I would like to present Mike with a list of players that would play, kind of like a petition. |

Re: Phoenix area players untie! Sit and Go tournaments...
Percula, Hass again. I would love to play in games like this and I know at least 5-6 other people from my home game that don't use this forum that would like to play. Ill give them a call tonight and maybe Ill see you at CAZ in the next few days and tell you what they say.

Re: Phoenix area players untie! Sit and Go tournaments...
Honestly, if The Fort can implement this, and with some advertising, they will become more popular than CAZ. Most of the private games at ASU and surronding area have been sit and go type games. I think it would be a very popular choice for attracting new players to the casino. Thier comp system aready blows CAZ away. All they are lacking is game selection and location.
I love The Fort, if I were still in AZ I would sign your petition. The people who are NOT going to be in favor of Sit and Go tournaments are the dealers, who will be missing out on normal tips and will have to stay in a separate lineup. |

[/ QUOTE ] This was one of the areas we talked about, and luckly for us one of the long time dealers joined us... The dealer was in favor of the idea. The example that we all could find a favorable agreement was something like this... 10 players for $100+$15 giving a total take of $1150, $90 going to drop and $60 going to the dealer, leaving $1000 for the players, paying 50, 30, 20 or $500, $300, $200. Start with T$2500. Using 15min levels, it should not last longer than one to one and a half hours. That is fast, yes I know, but you can not tie up a table for too long or the fees have to go up to cover the drop and dealer's time. And if the winners tip the dealer too, there will be a line to deal the S&G instead of the rings or regular MTT with the best dealers in the front of the line. Another example for higher limit/longer play... 10 players for $500+$50 giving a total take of $5500, $300 going to drop and $200 going to the dealer(s). Leaving the full $5000 for top three, 50, 30, 20... $2500, $1500, $1000. Use 30min levels and T$5000 starting chips. We figured this would go for about three hours plus and would likely require two or more dealers and at least one break for the players. |

I'd love to have something like this as a regular option.

Re: Phoenix area players untie! Sit and Go tournaments...
Surprised you don't know that Casino Del Sol in Tucson has been spreading these for a couple months. They do $30 + 6, $60 + 6, and $100 + 10. They don't run that frequently mostly due to lack of dealers and lack of interest at some times, but then, CDS doesn't get the traffic that the places you are thinking of do.
