It was a formal night in the dining room. Men have to wear a jacket and tie in the dining room that night. I just was too lazy to go back to my room to get changed. I need another poker trip! I have been thinking about the Alaska cruise for my wife and I . She doesn't play poker and has no interest in learning. Will she be able to find some non-poker playing spouses and non-poker playing things to do?

They served us pastries during the morning sessions, sandwiches and pizza in the afternoon, cookies all day long, dining room desserts after dinner. I've never eaten this well in any land-based rooms! You might not ever leave -- at least until the poker staff locks you out... There's plenty to do aboard a cruise ship that isn't poker-related. Galley tours. Art auctions. A (mostly) well-equipped library. Bingo. The casino slots. Shopping. Golf. Internet cafes (although they're wicked pricey). Broadway-style musicals in the evening. And that doesn't include the shore tours. I am shying away from the Alaska cruise, actually. There's far too much pretty scenery up there to watch. I would lose my focus on poker in a heartbeat. Lots and lots of music to listen to, as well. One of the refreshing things about this particular cruise was that the poker rooms were located just off the lounges. Jazz music in the evening. Classical music at the afternoon tea time session. Made the poker feel almost civilized... BTW, JoeU -- great trip report and terrific photos. Thanks!
