It happens up here in Colorado as well, where we have a $5 limit. Basically, sometimes the "good old guys" get together and want to be friendly and jovial, getting free drinks while they grind away hoping for a bad beat jackpot.

This would make sense if Jake's opponent simply called down. But this guy did his share of raising and capping, too.

Yea. As I said, there's a state law limiting things to a $2 max bet. I don't usually play there because of it, but Wilma has left me w/o Internet.

I would have called the floor and complained about collusion. Unless you're being sarcastic, in which case:

I've seen this type of play at every card room in the San Francisco Bay Area and in both limit and no limit play.

The people that show or do not bet the nuts typically either have a gambling mentality and don't care that much about the extra bet or have a weird set of social conventions related to poker.

I always thank them for saving me a bet, say nice hand and they don't seem too upset when I don't return the favor.

The guy that got mad about being asked if he flopped it and still betting/calling was just as greedy so he is retarded for being mad there. He just wasn't as smart.

That was my first thought. And I looked at the time and see about an hour goes by and it's unsaid!

Well, maybe it's just the 2 of us who have a "problem?"

Yes, this is pretty common, especially among the elderly.

[/ QUOTE ]

LMAO!!!!

Maybe it's common among some elderly, but I know a room filled with elderly (me amongst 'em) who regulary bust the young guns dancin' in lookin' for an easy score. We laugh a lot, rag each other unmercifully and have a great time.

But when the cards are dealt, it's nut kickin' time. Checkin' it down is practically non-existent. HU means no limit on the raises and if you let your stack get low and can't take full advantage of the nut-whatever you're holding, you're gonna' hear about it.

OK, I'll put away my AARP card now.
