Jake,

Have you read anything by W.E.B. Griffin? He writes war novels, usually pretty historically accurate, but still fiction. Some take place during WWII and some are more modern. I like it.

I read The Corps series. They were ok, but a little too soapish for my taste. Less romance and more killing would've been better.

Where are you, and what's the probability of being hit by Wilma?

You gotta play hurt • Dan Jenkins
Good, funny book

The Eagle Has Landed • Jack Higgins
I assume you've either read this already or have seen the movie. If not, highly recommended.

Miami, and the cone is pretty wide at this point. This was really intended to be more of a hypothetical thread about what people would do if it hit.

Dan Jenkins is great and it's been awhile since I read any of his...Semi Tough, Dead Solid Perfect and Life Its Own Self. Good suggestion.

I've read The Eagle Has Landed about a dozen times. I've read everything Higgins has ever written (including his pseudonyms) except the ones in the last couple of years or so. He's kinda lot his touch imo.

Jake screw books go get yourself a generator, if the hurricane does hit your town then FEMA will pay you back whatever you spend for it.

On a side note I have been in Beaumont for past two weeks and I would not have wanted to be there when Rita went through.

I fully expected this post to be about Fred Flintstone's plight.

Wish I could go. Is this book as depressing as it sounds?

Jake if that thing hits you hard be prepared to have NOTHING open in your town for a long while. I waited a hour and half for sonic when I first got to Beaumont because nothing else was open.

How about something by V.S. Naipaul? It's cool to learn about different worlds sometimes. Get out of the house mentally speaking. He's a very good writer.

If want more killing I recommend Shaun Hutsons later books a lot of guns and violence. Any of his Doyle books, Exit Wounds or Warhol's prophecy.

Excellent english writer his horror stuff is loads better than Steven King and James Herbert.
