Default Weird hand

$100 Live Tournament. about 80 players. Down to around half the field. Avg stack is probably 15x.

Blinds are 300-600.
EP goes all in for t1900.
Huge stack (30k) who just sat down (and is still aranging his chips) fumbles a call out there.
Good, aggressive player pushes for 6k on the button.

You are in the BB and have a huge stack. Probably around 35k.
You have K5s.

Push?

I don't have the numbers handy but even giving the button a pretty wide range I can't imagine that hero is better than 45-50% against him, nevermind the EP raiser. I'm hesitant because if soss is posting this there's probably a good reason, but I let this one go with no second thought. Am I missing something?

Wow, I guess you're thinking is desperate push, weak call by a distracted player, squeeze play push. You're gambling just for the possible dead money from caller? Doesn't seem like enough of a reason to me.

What's your reasoning here? There's 10,700 in the pot (6600 main pot and 4100 side pot) and it costs you 5400 if you push and the new big stack folds. So you are getting about 2:1 on your push assuming the big stack gets out.

As long as you're not up against AA, KK or a larger K, you're not in horrible shape. If you lose you're down to 29k and are still in a great position if you win you bump your stack to almost 45k.

This goes along with Giga's theory of taking -EV situations allowing you to get a huge stack if you win but still have plenty of chips if you lose.

But you have to figure that the new player has a pretty decent hand since if he's still fumbling with chips I think he folds most mediocre hands. The button also has to know this and be expecting to get called, which means he probably has a very good hand. One other thing to consider is giving a good aggressive player an extra 5400 in chips if he wins. If you feel the big stack will fold and you don't mind giving the button more chips then this isn't a bad spot to push in.

I think it's definetly -EV chip wise but will most likely give you +EV situations later. As people see you are willing to put a good number of chips in with K5 and will probably pay off your big hands and be afraid of playing back at you with mediocre hands knowing your capable of calling.

It's close.

I like the play, because its consistent with my other posts.

Aside from that I think its EV+ although only slightly. I have very liberal ranges for EP and button which include any A,any K, any broadway, any connector to 98 and gapped connectors to j7.

Hero is 28% in the center and 44% in the side. for about EV=5800; it costs you ~T5400 to call.

This is all predicated on big stack folding.

I think it will impact your image dramatically.
