Chick flicks with little cross-over appeal. I can watch a comedy like Mean Girls, but not weepies like Steel Magnolias, soap operas, or liberation for chick flicks like When Stella Got Her Groove Back.

Lame Anime, like when it's battling robots with an idiotic storyline or characters there's no way you'd get anywhere near if it wasn't anime.

Most sports movies -- about the most formulaic thing possible, and most sports have been done to death and aren't even that interesting in the first place. Exceptions are movies that have a lot else going on, like the old version of The Longest Yard, or that Paul Newman hockey one whose name just slipped my mind. I still haven't seen Chariots of Fire.

Slasher flicks. Extremely monotonous and predictable even when well done, and they're almost never well done.

Musicals. Loved "All That Jazz," the one with Roy Scheider not the remake, and "Singin' In the Rain." But aside from those, I can't recall seeing one I'd want to see again, or even not being extremely bored and disgruntled watching. I do like the rare dance scene if it's from a master like Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire or Donald O'Connor, but not every one of those either.

I'm going with the guy on this one. Meryl Streep is the kiss of death in a movie.

i agree with butch cassidy and little big man, but the good the bad and the ugly is not good for a starter western, much less getting somebody that's against westerns into it. no matter how good it is, it's too authentic and too long for a biased viewer.

again i'll say i like for a few dollars more better too.

I don't like horror movies as a rule.

I'm looking for one that I can't laugh about.

Seriously, things like Dawn Of The Dead (I dunno, its Romero at least) just crack me up. I mean, the newer version has so much comedy in it that I couldn't even take it seriously.

The Ring is probably the scariest movie I've seen to date. Please, someone who likes these, give me some tips.

Yeah, the spaghetti westerns are probably a bit too much for a beginner.
And I can't believe I forgot For a few dollars more, which I agree is better then the good, the bad and the ugly.

Jacob's Ladder.
The Exorcist.
Rosemary's Baby.
The Evil Dead.

But you have to suspend disbelief for horror movies to work. If that's a no-go, then you'll never forget them.

Dunno if you're one of those guys who sees sci-fi movies and go "There's no such thing as ray guns!" or sees cartoons and says "Mice can't talk!," but some folks are like that. You definitely have to be willingly receptive to it and not fight it.
