You must have made a misprint, you said live games were TOUGHER. I said they were EASIER. Either a misprint on your part or communications error on my part there.

Live games are absolutely easier tho, and it's thanks to television. At least television is making the magoos want to play LIVE and not solely online.

Easier to play in TOUGHER to stomach. It seems I can longer sit at a table without the the presence of atleast 2 or 3 knob jockeys who want to stare me down for reraising them preflop in a small stakes game. I know all the dealers and floor staff on a friendly basis in my B&M and I sometimes wonder how they don't lose it and wop some of these guys.
"No sir, it's either fold, call or raise"
"Please act in turn sir"
"Sir turn your hand over or you cant win the pot"
These guys slow down and kill tables.

I've lost my cool a couple of times recently, WHICH I USUSALLY NEVER DO.

I show down a hand at the river and have two morons who have called staring into space, me and eachother and I lash out.

"If one of you beat it, just show the f@#king hand"

One jerk decided to slow roll trip Ace on a table full of regulars it turned into feeding time at the zoo.

Yes the games are easier BUT far less enjoyable(Not all the time, just most)

I've seriously thought about doing this just to see if I can. I get some backup income from non-poker, but still gambling related things so I wouldn't be giving up much (besides rakeback).

At Bay 101, I have no problem thinking that 1 BB/hr is totally reasonable at both the $20/40 and $40/80. BUT, I've experienced some daytime line-ups that have made me cringe there. They aren't great players (I've seen very few), but they aren't total donks. And if I don't have at least one donk, it seriously makes the game less profitable.

I still think, even with the obvious crappy daytime hours (which I would probably avoid and just play from like 3p-12a or so every day) for 20 days out of the month and I should be able to do $6400 at $20/40...

Actually, looking at that now, that seems high. I don't doubt I can do 40 hours a week live, but I didn't think that much could be made from $20/40 by playing live... interesting numbers crunch.

I'd like to wait until I'm more comfortable with the $40/80 there, but I'm going to seriously consider a month of trying this sometime this fall/winter.

So I do think it's possible, but I think online is probably better. The only upsides to live play would be the fact I could take 40 hours of that, but 40 hours of 4-8 tabling online makes me want to puke.

Ah hell, I lose my cool all the time. Otherwise how would I kick so many people in the nuts? Just not while I'm dealing. I have developed a certain resistance to the utter stupidity I see at the tables.

Still, I find live poker FAR more enjoyable than online will ever be.

One thing you haven't factored in is that in a live game, you see and hear MUCH more than you do online. This means for an astute player, who can read tells, telegraphs, and just generally pays attention, they earn more PER HAND than they do online. It might not totally make up for the number of hands you can play online, but it sure is more fun playing live, and the profitability is still there, even if in a slightly different overall perspective.

Oh, my BB/100 is definitely higher at $20/40 live than at my usual game online. The 1 BB/hr I quoted is probably 3.5 BB/100 depending on how dumb the dealer is and how many times the auto shufflers break.

You make me laugh. I was ranting wasn't I. One of the dealers plays in an underground game with me and I could almost see his thoughts of mayhem towards this guy. I don't know how you guys do it, I have a lot of respect for dealers, it's a tough job, especially dealing with the Saturday night drunks and TV magoos as you call them.

But for sure, theres only so much mouse clicking I can take before i miss the touch of the cards, felt and chips.

Online play definately gets boring quick in my opinion.. I'd much rather play live even though I finally played at a B&M for the first time 2 weeks ago in Vegas.

Al, do you sit there sometimes when you are dealing and just think to your self... hmm this guy just slow-played his Aces into the BBs just made flush and this other guy is sitting most likely on a dead draw, but will call to the river? LOL.. I would guess your hand reading skills improve by just watching these donks day after day?

People who play online do not play as well in casinos.

The patience required to wait for your hands is tougher for them to grasp. Tight-Aggressive online turns into Loose-Passive in the B&M all the time!

This is me damn you!

Actually, I've recognized my tendancy to do this and before I go on a trip, I tend to start playing only one table for a few days. That way I can make sure my VPIP isn't skyrocketing by only seeing one hand at a time.

I get the same way when I know I can't spend enough time to play.

If I know I only have 30-45 minutes to play online, I play loose and horrible. If I know I've got 2-3 hours of undisturbed peace, things go better.

Same with B&M.. If I goto AC with the ol lady who wants to goto a concert with me or something, and it shrinks my playing time to just a few hours, it affects my play.

If I know I'm going to be playing for the next 8-12 hours, I can get myself into that "Tight-Aggressive" mindset, and play well.

I'm going to Seneca Allegheny for the first time this weekend with no distractions, a good 8-10 hours of playing time.. Hopefully everything goes alright.
