A friend and I were talking about this tonight. The thing is, if you ante $5, you're going to be wagering $50 fairly regularly if you play in an EV-maximizing way. People who want to bet the minimum possible at a table game don't generally want to wager $50.

On the other hand, it seems like a fairly slow game to deal, and the house edge isn't terribly high, so if they make the minimum ante $1, they may not make enough money on the game to justify keeping it.

Then again, people are probably going to play it pretty badly, so maybe they'll be able to take a big percentage, in which case they could keep it low.

$2 seems like a good balance. My guess is $5.
