Default (5$) Hero is dealt A 7 on the bubble

Here are two pf the hands I wasn't sure about last night, any help or input would be appreciated.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t150 (4 handed) converter

Hero (t1390)
Button (t4765)
SB (t2765)
BB (t4580)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Hero ??

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) converter

Button (t8865)
Hero (t1590)
BB (t2285)
UTG (t760)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to t400</font>, Hero?

This is pretty read dependent. In the first situation, you should push with any Ace. The fact that your stack is the shortest at the table by far is a big reason as to why you should be pushing.

The second situation is a little trickier since you have a stack twice as big as UTG. It really depends on how often Button is raising, and with what. If there is a decent chance that he'll fold if you push over him, then you could consider a push. I think the most prudent course might be to let this one go buy and save your chips for when you can open the pot.

I fold both. You've got plenty of chips in Hand 1. No reason to be pushing mid-aces. In Hand 2, your hand just isn't that good, even against button's wide range. There's a guy much shorter than you. Let him bust before you start tangling big stack with meh hands.

1st hand, it's only +$EV if they are tighter than 66+, ATs, AJo.... (if they are tighter than that, u could be pushing ALOT more)

2nd hand fold-- no reason to get involved w/ a hand which is slightly ahead, or way behind w/ the stacks the way they are.

I probably fold #1. If you push you put your tournament life at risk. When you get called you're almost never going to be a favorite and often quite a big dog. Your tiny stack allows the big stacks to open their range to include A9-AT etc because you can't hurt them if they lose. When you don't get called you win $225 chips and are still in 4th place with 1500 chips. What have you gained?

Hand 2 is read dependant. If you push there will be 2000 in the pot and it's 1100 more for big stack to call so it's a nobrainer call for him since he'll still have a massive chiplead if he loses.

Normally you should prefer to get your money in the middle with the best of it, not with easily dominated mediocre holdings that will almost never be a favorite. This is even more true on stars where the blinds last 10 minutes per round and 100/200 lasts 20 minutes.

Both are easy folds. Not even close, IMO.

Agreed. First hand You dont have to go into push mode UTG with marginal hands until the blinds get bigger. Second hand = gap concept.
