I am pretty sure people were using asshat back in the early nineties as a more "polite" version of assh0le (hazy college memories). I know one of my colleagues was using asshat in the mid-nineties.

That's cool, I never heard it until my friend said it and it became the word of choice for some time. Many people looked at us befuddled when we called them asshats. We were younger, thought it was classic. It's an amusing word, I still use it selectively [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
