Default Dual monitor help needed

I bought a Radeon 9550SE video card so that I could use 2 2001 FPs. I can get the monitors to work (one at a time) using the VGA lead but when I plug the DVI lead in the 1st monitor goes on standby and the 2nd one (DVI) doesn't work at all. If I unplug the VGA and just try the DVI again nothing works.

I've tryed playing with the video card settings and also the windows settings but I'm having no luck. Any suggestions?

My 2001FP just arrived this afternoon. I thought I'd be making this post but I called the guy who built my computer and he walked me through it in a minute. Here is what he told me;

Right click on your desktop.
Left click on Properties.
Left Click on Settings tab.
You should have two boxes there, 1 and 2.
Click on the smaller one which I think should be 2.
Now you should be able to click the option 'Extend
my Windows desktop onto this monitor'
Click Apply

Now you just need to set your screen resolution and Color quality.

I guess I should have asked if you have Windows XP, I just assumed you did, and if you wanted to pan from monitor to monitor.

Thanks for the reply. I think I've got it sorted. I needed to press a button on the dell to tell it where it's feed was coming from. Only took 3 hours to work that out

Yea, just hit the little buttons and it switches which input it's looking at. Useful if you have multiple inputs coming from various sources, annoying if you don't know about it. Took me a while to figure out at first, too!

If you have it working can you tell me, is the DVI one a much better picture or even noticable. I am thinking of adding with my non dvi port. I am worried that side by side there will be quite a difference, hopefully not!

I just hate my analog monitor now and it looked fine before.

I have to agree with you David. I just got my new Dell today and it makes my other monitor look like a turd!
