Turning Two Pair with AQ
Note: I know a lot of people hate the check behind on the flop but I like to bring it into my game. Sure there is a flush draw here but heads up with a 5 and a 2 on the flop I like to throw it in here and there. Also, from what I have seen villain has the tendency to get aggressive if he thinks you are weak. Hence his turn bet, should I smooth call or raise here? Hand converter issues too, by the way.

Re: Turning Two Pair with AQ
yes, raise the turn and build the pot.
while i suppose mixing it up and checking this flop is ok, I'd much prefer a 1/2 pot fake continuation bet here. If you're lucky, he'll checkraise you. THEN you can get cute and just call, let him keep up the aggression, and eventually stack him. |

Re: Turning Two Pair with AQ
Is there any case where any of you guys check a flop instead of making a continuation bet, in a positive manner? For instance I can see checking pocket eights with 2 players on a A K 10 flop.

Re: Turning Two Pair with AQ
You really should be checking very very few pots. Even with 88 and a AK10 flop you should be the flop if you are heads up, because those are the type of cards he'll put you by your preflop raise. So just try to take it down on the flop, but if he calls you're done. In this case you should definitely raise. You need to build the pot with your big hands.

Re: Turning Two Pair with AQ
I raised $4 to $7 and he mucked. If he wasn't calling $4, I doubt a double to $6 would have worked. He must have been on like king high or a small pocket pair for him to have no interest in the hand, like I figured.
