Default 5/10 K9s from BB

UTG is very loose and typically rather passive.

CO is 26/8/1.6 over ~500 hands w/ river af of 2.2, fold to riv bet 45%

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls, CO calls, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: (3.40 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets, CO calls, Hero raises, UTG calls, CO calls.

Turn: (4.70 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG folds, CO calls.

River: (6.70 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, CO raises, Hero folds.

I considered 3 options after seeing the river card: bet/fold, check/call and check/fold.

Why not just bet the flop?

I think I prefer check/call to bet/fold on that river.

with this cast i don't like the flop c/r. i just lead

otherwise i like it all, including the river fold. your hand looks like a flush, too, so i highly doubt he's bluffing this often at all, even with his "high" river aggression factor.

Bet the flop. Giving free cards on this flop is bad. The rest looks good.

Something is telling me that your Flop C/R gave away your hand. I think that if you check/call that, then it keeps UTG and CO wondering if you're drawing to the flush. What you did was say "I have top pair," whereas the CO continues to call on a flush draw. UTG was probably drawing a small pair and folded after he didn't get it on the turn.

Your fold on the river was a good play here since there was no chance to catch up again, and the possibility of a flush was too highly likely. You should have checked the River too and see what the CO does. You basically gave away a bet there.

Call me nuts, but I check-fold the river. I think we're ahead here much less than 7:1.

He is beating nearly every non-spade hand...

I check/call to induce bluff.

What? That's not true. He's checking though a ton. Look at his stats. He's passive.

That's "beating", not "betting"...
