False dilemma there, chuddo.

In any case, Kanye West tells me that George Bush hates black people, so that's probably true as well.

at least the daily show will take it with a grain of salt, get a chuckle at poorly chosen words...and move on.

[/ QUOTE ]

Uhhh, since when has Craig Kilborn hosted?

Stewart will go on his typical five-minute-anti-American-better-than-thou-premature-balding rant about the GOP. The Daily Show lost all credibility 3 years ago when they started taking s**t seriously.

I defy anyone to paraphrase her quote and preserve the meaning without it being offensive

[/ QUOTE ]

""So many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

"I've heard a lot of people say that the food they are eating here is better and more than they had before, and some of them didn't even have a home before the crisis. So at least there's some ray of hope in this disaster."

She's trying to be positive and she sounded like an ass...

The problem is you're implying that she's racist on top of everything else when she made no such implication herself.

[/ QUOTE ]

If i looked over at group of 50 black guys and 1 white guy and said "they are lazy butt pirates" would you take it as at least somewhat racist? I didn't mention them being black, but the implication is there.

you left out the little chuckle of hers there buddy.

perhaps you can paraphrase that to be a 'sad tear for the victims and a smile at the hope for a better future'. eh?

can i paraphrase you with: "i am being blindly ignorant to a dumb woman's comment"?

I don't read "scary" as meaning "we're afraid of all these poor homeless people sticking around".

[/ QUOTE ]

Me neither. I read it as "we're afraid of all these poor homeless black people sticking around."

Taken in the whole, I don't think it's bad:

[ QUOTE ]
Barbara Bush, who accompanied the former presidents on a tour of the Astrodome complex Monday, said the relocation to Houston is "working very well" for some of the poor people forced out of New Orleans.

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality," she said during a radio interview with the American Public Media program "Marketplace." "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."
