value bet this trips ak on the river?
http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?p...mp;hand=137832
It's a hand my friend played, he said he had no reads or stats but just had a gut feeling because of the guys timing etc. He didn't get very specific but he said the guy called quickly on the turn like he wasn't scared of the A. Seems to me lots of hands will call a river value bet, and the fact that his opponent played so passively makes those hands more likely (AQ, A10, Ax). So without reads who value bets here and for how much? I personally would bet 30$, I tend to be on the weak side though. Also, who folds to a push? |

anyone? Seems to be a lot of differing opinions on this, another friend of mine says he checks behind as well...

Re: value bet this trips ak on the river?
I definitely value bet the river. With no reads, honestly the guy could be calling down any ace, any jack, flush draw, pocket 2's...

Re: value bet this trips ak on the river?
Well I think their point is theres only a couple hands that will call a river bet, namely aq and a10, or less likey <a9. A missed flush draw or 22 isn't calling the river. Still I think its worth a value bet, but it seems pretty close..

I might not put my whole stack in, but I'm definitely going to bet half pot on the river. If he raises all-in, I'd probably fold.

Re: value bet this trips ak on the river?
I'd definetly value bet this river and re-evaluate if raised, but if hero had a read not to value bet, maybe he should follow his instinct.
On the off-hand, villain played this hand about as badly as you can play it. It's as if someone offered him $1,000 to win as little as possible with a boat vs trips without folding. |
