Default hiding items in taskbar

Anyone know if this is possible? Specifically i'm looking to hide the fact that an app is open, so I can get to it by alt-tabbing, but it won't show up on the task bar at the bottom of my screen...

That's probably what'll I'll end up doing. I was just trying to see if there was anyway to do the above so that i could have things as normal, have poker on work screen, but when i hid it NOT have the WELCOME YOU'RE PLAYIGN POKER tab showing [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
