i'd say buy one 2405 and keep your 2001

[/ QUOTE ]

I did consider this, but from a pure asthetics(sp?) point of view, don't you think it would look a whole lot nicer if I had matching monitors?

[/ QUOTE ]

i have a samsung 213T and a 2100fp. they dont match as the 213T is an inch larger. i dont care that they dont match. im not looking for "pretty." function over form.

Point taken. But I keep my computer setup in my living room, so looks are a bit important to me.

After reading this thread, I think I'm going to go with the 2405 and just sell my 2001(maybe here to somebody).

Whats the best deal anyone can show me on a 2405?

i'm in canada and can't find the 2405's for less than the equivalent of $1175US each not including shipping & taxes. Thats the only reason i just ordered two 2001FP's and paid $1261US for the pair shipped. I'm still seconding guess my purchase and i'm thinking of changing the order (they haven't arrived yet) based on the opinions in this thread. Unforutnately, the deals for the states seem phenomenally better than here in canada and there is no way to order from dell USA if you live outside the US .

I'd be happy to trade you Dell monitors for prescription drugs. Seriously, just find someone near the border, have them shipped there, take them out of the box and drive them across.

I'd go for another 2001. My buddy currently has a 2405 and a 2001,and the quality on the 2405 does look better, and its bigger, but for your purposes I really dont see the reason to dump more money into it unless you just really feel you want one for whatever reason. I know I want them.

The 2405FPW on the 18th of October was going for $999 Canadian with free shipping as part of its 10 days of sales event. These events happen every 5-6 weeks or so.

Guys, one last quick question...

I think I'm going to go with buying 2 new 2405s, but I saw this at the bottom:

"To optimize this monitor's performance, your system must be able to support WUXGA resolution (1920x1200). Click here to see if your Dell system and graphics card is compatible with this monitor."

I have a Sony Vaio that I bought brand new about 2 years ago. Can I support it?
