Default Standard BB vs. SB?

There aren't many hard and fast rules in poker, but one that seems to work pretty well is the following. I'm in the big blind and it's folded to the small blind who just completes; assume that I don't have a hand good enough to raise with. If SB checks the flop, I will bet regardless of my hand (unless the SB is tricky enough to play a big hand this way - not too many players, it seems) and the SB folds the overwhelming majority of the time. Standard?

if i play a lot with a guy like that i will check behind with my more wothless hands (less than bototm 10%)- it might not be doing anything, its such a profitable situation that i don't want that player catching on and getting tricky on me.

I will bet the flop in this situation the vast majority of the time against most opponents.
